Verdict at a glance: our 3 selection pillars

For a 750 m² garden, three angles structure our selection.

The first is reliability at a controlled price. The Stihl iMOW 4 at €799 (8.4/10) covers 1 000 m² with perimeter wire, a 5-year manufacturer warranty and proven German engineering. For the vast majority of 750 m² family gardens, this is the most reasonable choice: no subscription, classic installation, documented maintenance.

The second is accessible wireless technology. The Mammotion YUKA 1000 at €799 (8.5/10) is the only model in our selection to offer LiDAR vision navigation under €800. Its 180 min cycle runtime and 6 configurable zones make it a credible alternative for those who refuse to lay cable.

The third is the raw price-to-surface ratio. The Kress Mission KR120E at €699 (8.0/10) covers 1 500 m² with wire, i.e. twice the target surface, at the lowest price in the selection. The 5 picks are detailed in the following section.

Our selection method

We applied three successive filters to our database of robot mowers tested or documented in 2024-2025.

Criterion 1: manufacturer surface between 950 and 1 700 m². A robot rated at 750 m² is undersized for a real 750 m² garden. In real conditions (wet grass, obstacles, ageing battery, slopes), effective capacity drops by 25 to 40 % compared with the manufacturer value. We therefore required a minimum rated surface of 950 m² (27 % margin) and capped at 1 700 m² to avoid overpaying for unnecessary watt-hours on a 750 m² plot.

Criterion 2: public price ≤ €1,000 incl. VAT, charging station included, excluding optional subscription. We verified prices on official distribution channels in France at the time of writing.

Criterion 3: Mowy Lab score ≥ 7.5/10, calculated on 5 weighted sub-scores: navigation accuracy, cycle autonomy, noise level, on-board intelligence (AI or RTK), and perceived durability (materials, warranty, after-sales service).

Result: 7 eligible robots in our database, of which 5 were retained to cover different uses. We are not affiliated with any of the brands mentioned (Stihl, Mammotion, Segway, Kress) and none of them sponsored us for this comparison.

Our detailed selection

#1 Stihl iMOW 4: best overall pick for 750 m² (€799, 8.4/10)

The Stihl iMOW 4 is the robot we recommend first to anyone looking for a reliable, well-sized and no-surprise machine for a 750 m² garden. It relies on classic perimeter wire navigation, but its pricing position is particularly aggressive for the surface covered.

Its key figures:

  • Rated surface: 1 000 m² (1.33× the 750 m² target)
  • Max slope: 40 %
  • Navigation: perimeter wire
  • Cutting width: 20 cm
  • Cycle runtime: 70 min (75 Wh)
  • Noise: 60 dB
  • Waterproofing: IPX5
  • Multi-zones: 3
  • Year: 2025

Why we retained it: the Stihl iMOW 4 offers a rated surface of 1 000 m² at a price that, for most competitors, corresponds to models limited to 500 m². The 33 % margin on the target surface is sufficient to absorb efficiency losses linked to real conditions. The 5-year warranty is one of the longest in the segment, and the Stihl after-sales network in France remains one of the densest for robot mowers. The maximum slope of 40 % covers almost all residential gardens with moderate incline.

What you must accept: installation requires laying perimeter cable, i.e. 8 to 12 hours of work for a 750 m² garden with obstacles. This cable can be cut by a gardening tool or moved by frost. The 20 cm cutting width is the narrowest in the selection, which slightly lengthens cycles on large open surfaces.

Who it is for: owner of a 600–900 m² family garden who prioritises long-term reliability and accepts careful initial installation.

#2 Mammotion YUKA 1000: best wireless pick (€799, 8.5/10)

The Mammotion YUKA 1000 is the only robot in our selection to navigate without perimeter wire under €800. It combines a front camera and artificial intelligence processing to map and delimit the mowing area from the mobile app.

Its key figures:

  • Rated surface: 1 000 m² (1.33× the 750 m² target)
  • Max slope: 45 %
  • Navigation: vision (camera + AI)
  • Cutting width: 22 cm
  • Cycle runtime: 180 min (216 Wh)
  • Noise: 60 dB
  • Waterproofing: IPX5
  • Multi-zones: 6
  • Year: 2024

Why we retained it: the 180 min cycle runtime is the highest in the selection, which compensates for the sometimes less direct navigation of a vision system compared with RTK. The 216 Wh battery is also the most generous in the comparison. With 6 configurable zones, the YUKA 1000 suits gardens divided into several distinct spaces. Installation comes down to 1 to 3 hours of software configuration, with no cable to bury or peg to plant. The maximum slope of 45 % is the best in the selection, tied with the Segway i108E.

What you must accept: the YUKA 1000 does not integrate RTK positioning. Its navigation accuracy depends on camera quality and lighting conditions. In very overcast weather or with dense border vegetation, delimitations may be less sharp than with RTK. The IPX5 rating does not allow direct exposure to heavy rain: mowing must be scheduled outside intense rainfall episodes.

Who it is for: owner wishing to avoid any physical installation, with an irregularly shaped garden or one divided into several zones.

#3 Segway i108E: best silent RTK pick (€999, 8.4/10)

The Segway i108E is the only model in the selection to combine RTK GNSS navigation and a 54 dB noise level. It sits at the top of the budget but brings positioning precision and discretion that the other picks cannot match.

Its key figures:

  • Rated surface: 960 m² (1.28× the 750 m² target)
  • Max slope: 45 %
  • Navigation: RTK GNSS
  • Cutting width: 18 cm
  • Cycle runtime: 90 min (64 Wh)
  • Noise: 54 dB
  • Waterproofing: IPX6
  • Multi-zones: 4
  • Year: 2024

Why we retained it: 54 dB is 6 dB lower than the other models in the selection, corresponding to a perceived sound level roughly half as intense for the human ear. For a neighbouring garden or mowing scheduled early in the morning, this difference is significant. The IPX6 rating is the best in the selection and allows use in moderate rain without restriction. RTK GNSS navigation offers centimetre precision without cable or camera, with superior weather reliability compared with AI vision.

What you must accept: the rated surface of 960 m² is the lowest in the selection, with a margin of only 28 % on the 750 m² target. If your garden is uneven or heavily shaded, this margin may prove tight. The 18 cm cutting width is also the narrowest. The Segway i108E does not integrate AI vision for detecting fine obstacles (cables, toys): it relies on contact sensors.

Who it is for: owner of a neighbouring or estate garden, sensitive to noise, who wants wireless navigation with all-weather reliability.

#4 Kress Mission KR120E: best price pick (€699, 8.0/10)

The Kress Mission KR120E is the cheapest robot in the selection and, paradoxically, the one that displays the highest rated surface alongside the Stihl iMOW 5. At €699, it covers 1 500 m² with perimeter wire and integrates a Side Trim function to follow borders.

Its key figures:

  • Rated surface: 1 500 m² (2.0× the 750 m² target)
  • Max slope: 35 %
  • Navigation: perimeter wire
  • Cutting width: 22 cm
  • Cycle runtime: 80 min (80 Wh)
  • Noise: 61 dB
  • Waterproofing: IPX4
  • Multi-zones: 4
  • Year: 2025

Why we retained it: the price-to-surface ratio is the best in the selection. For a 750 m² garden, the 100 % margin on the rated surface means the robot will never be pushed to full capacity, which preserves the battery and blades in the long term. The 22 cm cutting width reduces the number of passes. The Side Trim function, absent from Stihl models in this range, allows following fences and borders without leaving unmown strips.

What you must accept: the IPX4 rating is the lowest in the selection. It protects against water splashes but not against sustained direct rain: programming mowing in rainy weather is not recommended. The KR120E does not have an active obstacle detection system (OAS), which means clearing the garden before each session. The maximum slope of 35 % excludes steeply sloping terrain.

Who it is for: owner of a flat or gently sloping garden, price-sensitive, who accepts monitoring weather conditions before each mowing.

#5 Stihl iMOW 5: if you can stretch to €999 (€999, 8.5/10)

The Stihl iMOW 5 is the higher version of the iMOW 4. It shares the same German construction philosophy and the same 5-year warranty, but steps up in power with a 28 cm cutting width and a rated surface of 1 500 m².

Its key figures:

  • Rated surface: 1 500 m² (2.0× the 750 m² target)
  • Max slope: 40 %
  • Navigation: perimeter wire
  • Cutting width: 28 cm
  • Cycle runtime: 80 min (90 Wh)
  • Noise: 60 dB
  • Waterproofing: IPX5
  • Multi-zones: 4
  • Year: 2025

Why we retained it: the 28 cm cutting width is the highest in the selection. On a 750 m² garden, this translates into shorter cycles and fewer passes, which reduces overall mechanical wear. The rated surface of 1 500 m² offers a comfortable 100 % margin on the target, useful if the garden evolves (extension, purchase of an adjacent plot). The 5-year warranty and Stihl network are the same as on the iMOW 4.

What you must accept: at 14 kg, the Stihl iMOW 5 is the heaviest in the selection, which complicates handling for winter storage or manual moves. Like the iMOW 4, it requires perimeter cable installation. At €999, it competes directly with the Segway i108E (RTK, wireless, 54 dB): the choice between the two depends on the priority given to cutting width or navigation technology.

Who it is for: owner of a large 750–1 200 m² garden who wants fast mowing with a proven wired robot and long-term warranty.

How to choose for a 750 m² garden

Wired or wireless?

Perimeter wire remains the most reliable technology under €800: four of our five picks use it. Installation requires 8 to 12 hours of work (laying, stapling, adjustment), but once in place the system works without dependence on light or weather conditions. The Mammotion YUKA 1000 reverses this ratio: 1 to 3 hours of software configuration suffice, but vision navigation is more sensitive to environmental variations. The Segway i108E offers a third route, RTK GNSS, without cable or camera, at €999.

Slope of the terrain

If your garden has slopes greater than 35 %, the Kress Mission KR120E must be excluded: its manufacturer limit is set at 35 %. The Stihl iMOW 4 and Stihl iMOW 5 handle up to 40 %, which covers the majority of residential gardens in hilly areas. The Mammotion YUKA 1000 and Segway i108E reach 45 %, making them suitable for the most uneven terrain in the residential range. In case of doubt, measure the real slope with a level app before buying.

Multi-zones

If your garden is divided into more than three distinct spaces (front, back, side, enclosed vegetable patch), the Mammotion YUKA 1000 stands out with 6 configurable zones. The Segway i108E, Kress Mission KR120E and Stihl iMOW 5 handle 4 zones. The Stihl iMOW 4 is limited to 3 zones, which can become restrictive for complex gardens. With a wired system, each additional zone also requires extra cable to lay and maintain.

Noise and neighbourhood

The Segway i108E at 54 dB stands out clearly from the other four picks, which all run between 60 and 61 dB. In acoustics, 6 dB less corresponds to a perceived sound power roughly half as loud. For a neighbouring garden, mowing scheduled before 8 a.m. or a building with strict internal regulations, this difference is decisive. Models at 60–61 dB remain discreet compared with a petrol mower (85–95 dB), but the Segway i108E remains the only truly silent option in the selection.

What if your garden falls outside the 750 m² range?

This guide targets precisely gardens of 600 to 900 m². If your surface moves away from this, the recommendations change.

For a 400 to 500 m² garden, the five picks in this selection are oversized. The Kress Mission Nano KR101E at €599 (1 000 m² rated) constitutes a more suitable option for the budget, even if the rated surface remains well above the target. An oversized robot on a small surface is not a problem in itself: it consumes fewer cycles and wears its battery more slowly.

For a 1 000 to 1 200 m² garden, the Stihl iMOW 5 at €999 (1 500 m² rated) remains within budget and offers sufficient margin. Beyond 1 200 m², models outside budget must be considered, notably RTK models at €1,500–2,000, which we cover in a separate article.

To understand the technical differences between perimeter wire, AI vision and RTK GNSS, consult our complete guide to robot mower navigation systems. Our Top 10 comparison across all ranges covers models up to €3,000. All our recommendations by surface are available in the buying guides by surface section.

FAQ

Which is the best robot mower under €1,000 in 2026?

For a typical 750 m² garden, the Stihl iMOW 4 at €799 (Mowy Lab score 8.4/10) offers the best balance of reliability, covered surface (1 000 m² rated) and warranty (5 years). If the priority is to avoid perimeter wire, the Mammotion YUKA 1000 at €799 (8.5/10) with LiDAR vision is unbeatable at this price in 2026.

Should you pick a wired or wireless robot mower under €1,000?

Under €1,000, perimeter wire remains the best reliability-to-price compromise: four of our five picks use wire. The only wireless model accessible under €800 in our selection is the Mammotion YUKA 1000 (€799) in pure LiDAR vision. The Segway i108E (€999) in RTK GNSS is the other wireless option, but it sits at the top of the budget and leaves little margin for accessories or installation.

What surface margin should you plan for a 750 m² garden?

Allow at least 30 % margin on the manufacturer surface, i.e. a robot rated at 950 m² minimum. In real conditions (weather, obstacles, ageing battery), a robot loses 25 to 40 % of its theoretical capacity. For 750 m² actual, aim ideally for 1 000–1 500 m² manufacturer. Beyond 1 700 m², you overpay for unnecessary watt-hours for a surface that will never exploit them.

Is the Husqvarna Aspire R4 a good choice under €1,000?

It often appears in competing comparisons at €610–700 for 600 m² rated. Our database does not retain it in the top 5 because it is undersized for real 750 m²: 600 m² rated represents 0.8 times the target surface, below our minimum threshold of 950 m². At equivalent budget, the Kress Mission KR120E at €699 (1 500 m² rated) is far more relevant for a 750 m² garden.

How many years does a robot mower under €1,000 last?

Five to eight years with regular maintenance. Stihl and Kress offer 5 years manufacturer warranty; Mammotion and Segway cover 2 to 3 years. Wear parts (blades, battery) remain available for 8 to 10 years for established European brands. Recent Asian models (Mammotion, Segway) are mechanically solid, but their after-sales network in France is less mature and parts lead times can be longer.

What are the hidden costs of a robot mower under €1,000?

For wired models, allow €50 to 120 for perimeter wire and pegs (approximately 200 m of wire for 750 m²). Blades must be replaced every 6 to 12 months: budget €30 to 80 per year. The battery requires replacement after 4 to 5 years, at a cost of €80 to 150. For RTK models such as the Segway i108E, plan for a clear, elevated location for the reference station, ideally fixed to a wall or post.
